Machestic Dragons Gather for a Purpose
The ice and arctic temperatures did not prevent the Machestic Dragons from gathering for their annual membership meeting in February at The Breast Cancer Resource Center at the YWCA in Princeton. This was the first time the membership cast ballots for Machestic Board of Trustees; in past years Board Members were appointed by the officers of the organization. The Machestic’s welcome Regina Savadge of Hamilton, Denice Santora of Bordentown, Susan O’Malley of Lawrenceville, and Marie Ortega of Lawrenceville, Trustees serves a two year term.
The team celebrated each other at a New Year Dinner Celebration at the same location back in January, and later this month, on March 10 they will meet to begin detailed planning of Paddle for Pink Dragon Boat Festival to be held on June 13, 2015 at Mercer County Park.
Annie Carricato Machestic Dragons President said: we welcome all women afflicted with breast cancer 12 months of the year. The Machestic’s create awareness of life beyond a diagnosis of breast cancer, offer hope and camaraderie and best of all paddling on beautiful Mercer County Park Lake.
New supporter members are encouraged to also join to contribute their energy to women with breast cancer and after their treatment towards wellness. Our membership enrollment includes one third supporters: men and women who help build our organization by offering their skills from creating our new website, machesticdragons.org, contributing by helping organize our annual fund raiser Paddle For Pink, paddleforpink.org and paddling with survivors three times weekly and competing in dragon boat races in our region and beyond.
